Starting a discussion on Making the Invisible Visible

We will start this week reading and talking about the Spirit Rock Publication "making the invisible visible: healing racism in our buddhist communities" found here :

http://www.spiritrock.org/download/Making%20the%20Invisible%20Visible.pdf

Specifically this week we will be starting with the personal essay, found in Section Two in the above link, titled:

Reflections on the Five Precepts and Diversity by Sharon Smith.

(fyi: the reading is short, so I will be reading ouloud the section about the first precept in class from the above essay, and in following classes we will be discussing the other precepts, with time permitting).

July 4 People of Color Group

We will be meeting as normal during the holiday weekend. I'll bring the excerpt from a dharma talk by Ajahn Amaro, Refuge in the attributes of our own being, again-- it wasn't played last week due to the low turnout.
